The 2023 Mosque Expo
The Active Madrassah team, a collaboration between Together an Active Future and Active Lancashire, joined over 1000 Mosque leaders and over 40 exhibitors at this year’s Mosque Expo hosted by Faith Associates in Manchester. The team formed part of a panel of over 30 speakers to showcase our work and caught the attention of international organisations that wanted to learn more about the fantastic work the Active Madrassah team are doing.
Archery GB Recognition Awards 2023 Winners
Congratulations is in order as the Active Madrassahs team took home the award for Participation Project of the Year at his year’s Archery GB Recognition Awards!
Archery GB’s annual awards celebrates volunteers and clubs who work tirelessly to bring archery to all and it is great to see the success of the Active Madrassah work helping to embed physical activity within Madrassah settings being recognised.
Growing Archery skills and delivery
In July the Active Madrassah Archery offer was launched in Preston, in partnership with GLL and Archery GB, where staff and volunteers from 10 local Madrassahs attended an Archery session. The event delivered archery tasters for young people and adults.
To raise awareness of the wider activities at the centre, there were opportunities to try Climbing, Bouldering, Padel, Multi-Sports and Swimming.
We estimated over 600 people attended the event, which was fantastic as some hadn’t been into their local leisure centre since the pandemic.
The work has progressed to run training to enable Madrassahs to have the skills and confidence to lead Archery for their pupils. In November, 12 females representing 6 organisations completed their Archery GB Leaders Award, which will be complemented by 11 males from 6 organisations completing the same award in December. Congratulations to everyone completing the training!
